The Meadowlands Family Health Center was established November 28, 1992 with a mandate to provide and expand its offerings of comprehensive health care services. Within this mandate, the Center converted to a Family Health Organization (FHO) January 1, 2009, which has provided the necessary funding to increase our staff and institute the beginnings of our electronic health records.
Our medical staff includes fourteen family physicians, two registered nurses, three registered practical nurses, a dietitian, a medical esthetician, an athletic therapist and a massage therapist; the latter four constituting our Meadowlands Therapy Clinic.
HOURS OF OPERATION
Our general practice is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.
In addition, a daily urgent care clinic is available only for patients who have a family doctor at our Center:
The general urgent care schedule is as follows:
- Monday-Friday: 9:00AM-8:00PM
- Week-ends and Holidays 10:00AM-1:00PM
The urgent care hours are subject to change depending on severe weather and staff illness. Please call us to verify daily availability as there is a limited number of same-day urgent care appointment slots.
We have a nursing team available to our patients for allergy and B12 shots, any shots already prescribed by a physician and TB skin tests. No appointment is needed. Come to our clinic and ask to see a nurse. They are available between 8:00AM and 6:00PM Monday and Friday, between 8:00AM and 7:00PM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. You can always contact the clinic to verify the nurse availability for a certain day. For injections, please arrive no later than 5:30PM on Monday and Friday, and no later than 6:30PM Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
***The clinic is usually closed on December 25th, January 1st and July 01st ***
Our receptionists are available to take your call Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and 1:00PM to 8:00 PM, and from10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
Please note that we've recently improved our phone system but during peak time, phones may be really busy-usually around 8:00am and 10:00am. The volume of phones calls received at those times is really high. Please be patient: stay on hold or try calling us back if you get a busy signal.
We regret that we cannot take voicemail messages. General messages left in the referral department will NOT be returned.
It is our intention in 2015-2016 to introduce on-line bookings and for patients to have secure access to their patient records. There may be the potential to ask questions of their physician from within their medical record through a secure email process within the OSCAR electronic medical record.
A FEW REMINDERS TO PATIENT
Please bring a valid health card with you when coming to see a physician or a nurse. If invalid, lost or forgotten, a reimbursable fee may apply.
Appointment cancellations must be made no less than 24 hours prior the scheduled appointment or no-show fees may apply.
We now offer email confirmation for booked appointments. Please ensure we have your current email address. We are not able to provide appointment-reminder phone calls due to limited resources.
- If you are coming in for a Periodical Health Review or prenatal appointment, please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment.
